Chalk this one up to another development in the Planit Butter Jet (PBJ) saga.
This dude next to me on the plane was super kind yet heavy on the complaints:
He forgot his headphones, there’s no internet, his friends peer-pressure him.
Naturally, I kept it friendly and promptly entered my Planit Butter work zone.
A bit later, I get up for a little stretch and a bathroom break.
When I return he’s still twiddling his thumbs and playfully remarks: Not much has changed since you left.
We giggle. I carry on with my work, he carries on twiddling.
Eventually, I super sincerely asked him: So, what are you grateful for?
Him: paused for a healthy 5 seconds.
I, again, SUPER SINCERELY, said: Cool, I’m gonna get back to my work and let you think about that.
After a minute or so he said: I’m grateful to be on this flight and I’m usually a really positive person with most things...etc.
Me: That’s really wonderful.
Him: you’ve obviously done a lot of work on yourself. How old are you?
Me: I’m 30.
And that’s when I realized — OH! I have something you can do.
I handed him iNTUCENTRiC.
I did not say I wrote it.
In our brief chat we did not discuss work.
We did not exchange names.
No clues.
He said: Oh, I don’t like to read.
I said: It’s not a normal book, you’ll be able to read it.
He accepts.
The rest of the piece is my live-writing of the unfolding event:
