(Planit Butter™: Party of One! Self Friendship in Action, 2024)
Some commentary I’ve received on my Coffee Table Book with a Lesson, Party of One! Self Friendship in Action (pre-sale TOMORROW May 3rd, 2024) is that there are a couple of words I use that might be above the level of vocabulary than what a lot of kids know.
My question is: why would we want to meet someone exactly where they’re at when we can challenge them a bit? Fuel their growth?
If we always prioritize communicating to each other in a way that is equivalent to our current level of knowledge, how will we grow?
My attitude is that it’s an opportunity for kids, and adults alike, to ask questions and learn!
If a child is being read to, they can ask the person reading “what does that mean?” Or, if a person is old enough to read themselves, then they’re probably old enough to use the internet. This means they can ask Siri or Google or the dictionary or the zillions of other resources what the word means.
My parents always taught me, if you don’t ask, you won’t get. So, I’m now saying…
