Unrealistic optimism seems to be the most realistic option to me. Does that equal delusion? Or, possibly, happiness.
Traditionally, unrealistic optimism has a negative connotation. It’s a cognitive bias in which people tend to overestimate the likelihood of positive events happening to them, while underestimating the likelihood of negative events.
As I see it, ‘unrealistic optimism’ isn’t underestimating negative events happening, it’s deciding in advance that ‘negatives’ are opportunities for strengthening our Self Friendship Practice…
